FDA Approves GMO Apples, Potatoes

 

The FDA ... proclaimed recent genetically engineered (GMO) apples and potatoes "are as safe and nutritious as their conventional counterparts." ... FDA says companies should "consult" with them about labeling, but like with all other genetically engineered food, requires no full disclosure to consumers.

Bill Would Create Organic-Type Labels for Non-Modified Foods

 

 Inspired by the popular "USDA organic" label, House Republicans are proposing a new government certification for foods free of genetically modified ingredients.The idea is part of an attempt to block mandatory labeling of foods that include genetically modified organisms, or GMOs.

WHO Says World is Eating Too Much Sugar

 

Put down the doughnut. And while you're at it, skip the breakfast cereal, fruit juice, beer and ketchup. New guidelines from the World Health Organization say the world is eating too much sugar and people should slash their sugar intake to just 5 to 10 percent of their overall calories.
